This is the full broadcast version of one of the biggest radio wind up's EVER. This is the time when Nic...well "Tony Blair" called Nelson Mandela at home for a chat !
This conversation was featured in the press & media in just about every country round the world. Nic said that this was one of the proudest moments in his life, "it's not every day someone get's to talk to someone whose name is firmly in the history books."
Once again, the full broadcast version of when Nic scored a goal against the England team, a day before the first world cup match. Pretending to be the Arch Bishop of Canterbury, Nic almost got the long haired goalie to join him in prayer !
The story goes that Nic got through to Alan Shearer, who did not fall for the wind up and told Nic to, well to get lost (in so many words...). Nic then phoned the Hotel in France again, and spoke to Glen Hoddle who said that he was not in even though it was him that was speaking..(perhaps it was the French water playing up??) then eventually spoke to David Seaman who fell for the set up, hook, line & sinker!
Nic said "Glen promised that no one from the press would get to the players through his "ring of steel"....... perhaps next time he should tell reception to hold all the calls !". Nic Tuff 1 England 0 !
